Regional Achievements
In 2008, the Coachella Valley Region displaced 8,449,282 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) of petroleum fuel with alternative fuels. Alternative fuels included CNG (Compressed National Gas), LNG (Liquified Natural Gas), H2 (Hydrogen), EV (Electricity), LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas), and Solar.
The College of the Desert is offering an associate's degree in advance transportation technologies and a certificate in automotive alternative fields for employment preparations.
The advance transportation technology degree include classes such as advance clean air car course, CNG/LPG conversion or /insultation, CNG/LPG fund and maintenance, advance automotive electrical systems, hybrid, fuel cell and electric technology.
In addition to the above program, the college is offering the Automotive Alternate Fuel Certificate. The certificate includes the clases bio-diesel characteristics, use and production; CNG/LPG diagnosis and repair; CNG/LPG fund and maintenance.
This program gives students the opportunity to make a career out ot advance transportation technology.
